ExamDiff Pro is a tool for comparing directories and files in an effective visual mode. It is designed for Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7/2008.
With the user interface allowing two different directories/files to be seen simultaneously or one at a time, depending on changing needs, the utility will perform comparisons between the two. Directories from two separate locations that are different from one another will be highlighted in the two halves of the window and the .txt file of the differences that can be saved will make it easy for the identical directories from different locations to be found. It is a useful tool for finding unnecessary copies of the same file/directory that are spread through the computer, occupying space that could be used for new items.
When it comes to comparing files, if you are editing and saving changes to them after having asked for the comparison to be made, you will be notified that modifications have been performed and asked if you wish to re-compare the files. You can make changes within files from the ExamDiff Pro utility, but with little control over what you are doing unless you are really good at it.
The utility allows to copy-paste, delete and rename operations to be performed. There are several "View", "Navigation", "Edit" and "Search" options and it will take time to get used to taking advantage of them. However the basic operations, such as copy-pasting (using the menu or the drag-and-drop method) and comparing are not complicated to execute.
All in all, it is quite a complex program, allowing for basic operations related to managing your computer files to be performed easily and for other more complicated actions to be carried through if you take time to understand the various options available.
